They both had one not that long ago but they're normally for off peak periods rather than peak ones.

Virgin didn't appear to have any sales for August last year but the year before that they offered Miles plus money (for August) between Christmas and New Year.

Virgin have recently released some dates to buy flights using miles and miles plus money for August.

BA have also today just launched a "sale" - if you can be a bit flexible in your dates there's some reasonable prices

There are some good prices in this Sale but I don't think it runs through August 2009. Looks like 31 March is the final departure date.
Something on the news today that Virgin had dropped some prices to £100 + taxes & fuel surcharges. Lowest for ages but I only caught the back end of the story.
