Have done both Globespan direct to Sanford and Continental to Int'l via Newark and just wondering what some of the other Scottish options are that members have used in the past? Max of 1 Stop. Looking at next October.

U.S airways fly out of Glasgow , I think they stop at Detroit . Friends used them in June of this year and found them very good and cheap 310.00 return but they did book late.
KLM fly from Glasgow via Amsterdam and Icelandair fly via Iceland we have flown with both and found the flight connections can make the flight times horrendous ie KLM had us sit in Amsterdam for 5 hours coming home waiting for a connection. Icelandairs connection time is around 5 hours ,going to Orlando but they do take you to the blue lagoon on a bus to break up the time .
There are also the charters like Thomas Cook and Virgin fly also in the summer months , but the downside you can only go for 7,14,or 21 days and you cant pick the day you want to leave ,like you can with the other airlines.
We fly twice a year from Glasgow and are thinking of using Manchester next year as they have far better deals.
Just back on Sat, went with Thomas Cook from Glasgow to Sanford. the flight both ways was good, the return to Glasgow
was only 7 hours. Two meals each way. In 2006 we also went in Oct this time with Globespan "no frills" and it was no frills, pure
cabin crew on the way out but ok on the return.
Our Scottish guests get a flight down to Gatwick and then Virgin direct to Orlando. They tell me it's cheaper than some of the options direct from Scotland.
blott
Recently we have taken a flight down to Gatwick and either gone Virgin or BA. If you book it through them it is cheaper than separate. The luggage allowance is also honoured so no problems with extra bags.
we have used MY travel which as you know is now Thomas Cook, used them this year and they were brilliant.
have booked with FC for next year which by then will be Thomsonfly
we can only go direct

Finally plumped for Continental now that flights out for next year's Oct School hols in my area - 3rd Oct for 2 weeks. Globespan were after £2559 for 4 flights direct to Sanford from Glasgow but have booked Continental at £1917 from Edinburgh to MCO via Newark. Website says only 8 tickets left at this price. You can probably get better if you want to take a gamble on really tight connection times. Get to MCO at 9.15pm but not an issue unless you are 1st timer or nervous driving in the dark. Even the better flights leaving UK earlier and getting in 6.15pm are £2160. BA doing reasonable deals via LGW from Edinburgh and Glasgow between £2050 and £2160. Delta, US Airlines take too long and Thomas Cook and First Choice are up in Globespan price range and higher.
Just a thought but have you looked at a flight to Shannon (or Dublin from next year) and then a flight onwards as they have opened a Customs and Immigration office there so youu will clear them both before you travel transatlantic?
Hi Millie,
On your post you say that the luggage allowance is honoured so no problem with extra luggage, who do you book with? Are you flying from Glasgow to Gatwick?

Is that for every airline?
This subject has been discussed a few times before not everybody seems to have the same experience. I must say I'd be tempted if I could be sure it would happen.
