Hi
Anyone flown into Tampa with Delta- what is airport like etc?
Thanks
Susan we fly regularly from Tampa Airport and actually flew out of there last week. It is a really nice modern airport and I think has been listed in the top 10 USA airports. The gates are round several hubs linked to the main terminal so you don't have to walk miles to get out. Flying with Delta you will already have passed through immigration (probably Atlanta?). After getting off the plane take the train into the main terminal building and an escalator takes you down to baggage collection (Blue for Delta). From there all of the car hire desks (apart from Alamo) are just across the road outside. For Alamo you will need to take their courtesy bus to their off site depot.
On your return, after checking in, I would advise eating on the landside rather than wait until you have passed through security. There is Starbucks, Krispy Kreme and TGI. If you walk pass TGI there is a Marriott hotel which also has a coffee bar and restaurant which is far less crowded. There is also a new Italian restaurant opening sometime in the future. Also lots of shops in the centre of the landside area and on the way to the Marriott.
The train takes you to the gates and security check which are normally fairly quick. There is coffee and a places to eat on the airside but we prefer landside.

We always try to fly into Tampa if possible as we prefer it to MCO. Mo has described it perfectly. Haven't flown with Delta though.

We flew into Tampa for the first time this year and it was great a very easy airport to get around and very helpful staff.

Robert and I first flew into Tampa with Delta from Atlanta Christmas 2003. It was a bad day in Atlanta and so many people were held up and going to miss the flight they delayed it so we all got on. We have since flown in and out of Tampa several times it seems quite child friendly and we prefer it to Orlando.
