    INFANTS

We are taking our 1 year old grandson to orlando next year, are there any tips ect,. from some of you who may have done the same.
Also it lookslike we only pay half price for his ticket, ? does he get his own seat?

Your grandson will not have his own seat. We are travelling with my one year old neice soon and we booked a sky cot for her. On take off and landing she will be strapped onto her mums lap.

[/quote]Sorry for sounding ignorant, is a sky cot one that sits on a pull down flap at a bulkhead seat position and do you have to pay extra for it?

Make sure you tell the airline at the time of booking. There are limited numbers on a flight, but you shouldn't have a problem if you are not flying in the main school holiday time

One of the best pieces of advice is to take your own car seat. It can be checked in with your luggage and ensures that you know it's history, that it's appropriate for your grandson and that you have one for going to the airport and dont have to rely on hiring one from the car hire company. Just take a black sack to put it into for the flight and label it both on the outside and on the seat itself.

there is a thread that has lots of hints for flying with babies such as giving him a drink or dummy on take off and landing to help stop his ears hurting and many more.

Just got back from Florida with our 5 month old. Skycot essential if you can pre book it. She slept for the full 7 hour flight home yesterday!

No seat of her own obviously but once we took off she could be laid in the skycot and you get the extra legroom seats too!

DM me if you would like photos of how the skycot sits.
