Thrifty & Blue Chip at Sanford

Used Thrifty for the first time this trip and I was very satisfied with the standard of service at Sanford airport. The Thrifty desk
is just to the right as you exit the baggage collection building (probably even shorter walk than to the Dollar desk !)

Although I had brought my Thrifty Blue Chip card (like Dollar Express) I don't know whether it would have made a lot of difference anyway, as there was only one couple ahead of me in the queue and just one (very pleasant)lady dealing. Unlike the Dollar queue where there is usually someone at the head of the queue to direct you to the next free operative.

I had ordered an intermediate size SUV and was allocated a Jeep Liberty (OK with me although I had hoped to try one of the new Ford Edges...Thrifty were kind enough to phone through to the parking lot...but there were no Edges to be had). However the Liberty is fine and has just 10,000 miles on it.

On completing the transaction (in record time!) I asked where the parking lot was and was told ...."just over the road, past the end of the building opposite and left" (For those who know the layout at Sanford....yes ....you've guessed it....I walked into DOLLARs parking lot to collect the car. They are apparently using the same pool of cars as I could see no demarcation between companies !)

Considering the price difference between Thrifty and Dollar I can certainly recommend Thrifty for service, speed and politeness and would definitely use them in future.

Big thankyou to Roger whose service was spot on as usual. [msnsmile2]

They are actually part of the same company Kevin.

We're thinking of using them Christmas but at MCO understand there is a shuttle to go on to collect the cars, so just weighing up options.

Although the desks are marked differently, the facilities for Thrifty and Dollar at the dreadful Miami location are in the same building and they share the shuttle buses, which are now even more packed full with passengers and bags.

I also noted that only a few of the signs from the airport to the depot have 'Dollar' on them these days and the maps handed out by the Dollar agents for the return only indicate 'Thrifty' locations.

We had the Ford Edge when we rented from Thrifty at Tampa this summer. Only complaint it didn't have a temperature setting...I do like to know how warm it is [msncool]

Great stuff, especially as we have booked through here for Thrifty in 17 days time! Seems to be pretty hassle free! We had to queue for some time at Dollar on our last visit.......

Excellent as we have booked Thrifty out of Tampa in November, so will let you know how we get on.

We usually use Thrifty when we visit Florida (both times lol!). We have never had a problem with the service. The first time was 10 years ago when we rented a Sebring convertible for our honeymoon, then again last year we had a Dodge Charger. We did swap cars last year as there was a problem with the wing mirror and the cigarette power outlet (for the GPS) didn't work, but as we caught these things before we left the lot, it was easy to swap. I don't know what we shall be renting next year when we go, but we'll probably use Thrifty again.
