Imminent Price Increases

We're picking up a car on 29 October 08 and we had this from Roger in July

'Orlando International Airport (MCO) have just announced that it is imposing a new Airport Customer Facility Charge starting on 1st October 2008.

This means customers collecting cars from the airport from 1st October 2008 onwards will be charged the fee. This applies to all on-site rental companies, whether booked through any agent or directly with the rental company.

The fee is $2.50 per day, up to a maximum of $12.50 total. So for rentals of over 10 days the fee will not exceed $12.50. This is payable to the rental company on collection of your car.

This is beyond the control of the car rental companies, as they have had it imposed on them by the Airport, so are simply collecting the fee and passing it to the airport authority'

Roger do you have a rough idea how much the increase will be ?

If I book now - can I change the date by one or two days if I cannot get a flight I want looking to early 2009

Us too but there is not a lot we can do about it as they are perfectly within their rights to do this I'm afraid.

I'm afraid not - we do not get that kind of information in advance (we don't usually get any advance warning of price changes at all).

Are there any plans to incorporate the $2.50(max$12.50) into the charges we pay the car rental companies and they pay MCO - or is that too complicated?

I'm sure at some point this will be included. Most other airports added this charge a few years back in the same way, and a year or so later the car rental companies included it in their rates.

Thanks for the heads up about the increases, saved £44 for our 3 week rental by booking this morning rather than this evening. How's that for service?
