    Multi Centre

Hoping to go on a multi-centre holiday to Florida in 2009 - could you recommend the best beach resort for the second week of holiday - someone suggested St. Pete Beach? Family of four - two children 7 and 14 so want good beaches/restaurants/shops etc. Thanks xx

Possibly a tad biased but you won't go far wrong in Rotonda West,
on the gulf coast. Midway between Sarasota & fort myers there are stunning beaches on this stretch of coastline. Port Charlotte has a great mall & there are plenty of restaurants from the normal chain types to wonderful seafood/fish ones and not at exhorbitant prices.

The narrier islands are easily accessible eith by ferry or rent your own boat it is truly amazing.
There is kayaking thru the bluewater trails, state parks with guided tours harbour cruises and golf, tennis and fishing.

While like the above poster I have chosen to buy in the Rotonda area, I feel you and your children may like the barrier Islands off sarasota.

Siesta Key or Anna Maria Island are both nice and more attractive I feel than St Petes. Having said that, St Petes is fine, certainly better than the east coast beaches.
