    Posh Meal??

    Hi All

We are going to Orlando in 3 days (can't wait). We are 2 families of 3 (4 Adults and 2 kids age 10 and 12) and we all fancied going out for a really posh meal when we are there. We have bought nice new clothes for the night (Men and Boys have shirt/tie and waistcoat and us Girls have lovely dresses).

Just hoping someone could give us some ideas of where we could go for a meal and where the kids can go too. The villa we are staying at is at Robbins Rest, Davenport.

If anyone could recommend somewhere it would be great. I just love getting dressed up for a special ocassion and really excited about it all.

    Many thanks

Primos at the Marriott Grande Lakes is lovely, the hotel has a lovely bar where you can enjoy drinks before or after dinner - although the bar in the restaurant is also good. You can book a table online. You don't have to get dressed up to go there but most people do.

    Hello,
If you are staying at Robbins Rest you could go to the Omni Hotel which is the large hotel at the back of Champions Gate, not far from you.

Citricos at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort has a great menu and a lovely atmosphere. They also have a kids menu. If you click on this link you can read our review in the Florida Guide

The Flying Fish at Disney's Boardwalk is also a favourite of ours.

I would say one of the resort restaurnts like Citricos/narcoosee's if not the omni. Or maybe the California Grill and book to still be there during the fireworks- you can see them frm there and Narcoosee's. From Citricos you just go outside and see them frm the resort gardens.

menus for the Disney ones are all allears.net.

Hi Claire, dining in Florida is usually pretty casual even in most of the smartest places but it is nice to dress up and make the occassion special.

You don't tell us what type of things you like to eat but you will be spoilt for choice whatever your tastes are. However as you are making a special night of it my recommendations below are places that have amazing decor as well as food.

As Val said the Omni is great, we love Zen there, the food is described as pan-Asian, they also have an Italian.

You will be staying near Animal Kingdom Lodge and Jiko there is amazing. The Lodge is beautiful and you will be able to see the animals there too. If you have any vegetarians in your group then it is the best place for them.

The Gaylord Palms Hotel is also nearby. The 12 acre atrium is a recreation of the major areas of Florida and includes live gators! The Key West section has a 60ft sailboat and is home to Sunset Sam's Fish Camp. The atmosphere of the Mallory Square sunset celebration is recreated here in the evenings with live music, table side magicians, fire eaters and other entertainers. The hotel also has fine dining restaurants.

Farther away is Tchoup Chop. This is at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort. The dining room is stunning and the food has Asian and Polynesian influences. Also at Universal is Delfino Riviera at the Portofino Bay Hotel serving fine Italian cuisine along with a fabulous view of the Portofino Harbour. Walk from City Walk and get the boat back or vice versa.

The Oceanaire on I-Drive at Pointe Orlando is sophisticated but very friendly and specialises in fabulous Seafood. Maybe not so good for a 10 and 12 year old.

Have a wonderful evening and please let us know where you decided and what it was like.

    [cheers]

Was at Citricos on Sat night and it was very nice. Had the prawns followed by the salmon and a meal for 2 with wine was about $140

For that something special definately 'Tchoup Chop', the decor and food is sublime. Also keep 'Seasons 52' in mind aswell.

We ate at the California Grill in the Contemporary Resort and it was wonderful. Dress code here so dressing up is essential! They have really nice food and a great childrens menu aswell. At time for wishes you can go out onto the terrace and watch wishes and they even pipe in the music. A really special night out.
