    Virgin from Manchester

We've booked with Virgin from Manchester for next year. Only ever been from Gatwick before so was wondering are the Virgin planes from Manchester the same/better/worse than from Gatwick.

I think it is luck of the draw on this one. It has been said that they use the older planes form Manchester but they surely couldn't be any worse than the last couple I've been on from Gatwick.
Between 3 of us we could just watch 1 seat back screen, but had to plug the ear phones into another seat. No spare portable DVd's. General cleanliness was awful.

We fly from Manchester and have always had good flights. Last time we didn't get the play station games but everything else was fine. No twilight check in, but you can check in on line. Last twice there has been no que at the luggage drop so we just walked straight through. Haven't flown from Gatwick so can't comment on that side.

We have had new and old planes when departing from Manchester with Virgin
As Christine commented it's the luck of the draw. [msnwink]

We flew with Virgin from Manchester and had no problems the meals were good staff were the same could not do enough for us .
We took our luggage to pleasure islsnd and check them in early and went back to the villa to spend the day as we were only flying back at 9.00pm so could swim and take our time as we had no one going in the villa for a couple of days .
Weigh your luggage as they charge for over weight .

We have always found Virgin from Manchester to be very good; clean with friendly staff. It is great being able to spend most of your last day of the holiday at the villa as well

We haven't seen the new planes when flying from Manchester but have been happy with the planes we have flown on. Haven't had any problems with TV/audio.

Hi guys, actually it's not luck of the draw what aircraft you will fly to Orlando on from Manchester.

Virgin use the Gatwick fleet of 747's to fly the MAN-MCO route, this fleet consist of a group of aircraft purchased due to a cancelled order to Italian carrier, Alitalia.

    The fleet consists of:

    GVAST Ladybird LGW/MAN744
    GVGAL Jersey Girl LGW/MAN744
    GVLIP Hot Lips LGW/MAN744
    GVROM Barbarella LGW/MAN744
    GVROS English Rose LGW/MAN744
    GVROY Pretty Woman LGW/MAN744
    GVTOP Virginia Plain LGW/MAN744
    GVXLG Ruby Tuesday LGW/MAN744

This group of aircraft use either the Odessey or Super Nova seat back in flight entertainment system. Whilst acceptable, offering multiple movie channels (on cycle instead of on demand) and the in flight map etc it's light years behind the V-Port system seen in Virgin's newer aircraft which is based in the main at Heathrow.

Bit of an Aviation nut, so if anyone has any specific queries, feel free to ask.

    Thanks.

    Paul.
