    DISNEY VACATION

    Hi
We are a family of 4 with two children aged 10 and 14.
Usually we go to a hotel to Disney and have stopped at different ones over the last few years.

We have encounted problems with hotels such as too much noise, poor service, crowded pools and over priced restaurants.

Finally we have come to the conclusion that maybe a villa would be the best solution.

To be honest I would prefer not to drive. I just do not consider driving relaxing on holiday and my wife has no navigation skills! We do not mind getting taxis or using shuttle buses etc.

My questions are therefore where are the best villas to stay at
for closeness to the best restaurants/supermarkets and Disney. For example I have noticed Windsor Hills is more expensive to rent a villa than Windsor Palms, probably due to being newer and nearer to Disney. I could stay further out and save the money for taxis.

Anyway any information would be greatly appreciated and thanks in anticipation.[msnsmile2]

You will enjoy a villa better than hotels as you say quieter and you have got your own pool .
A car is a must for traveling to malls and if you want to go futher than restaurants but some estates you can possibly walk to restaurants
You could arrange to have a car delivered to the villa the day after if they do not something we have done ,They rent cars from this site and will answer all your questions above if they deliver to where you are staying .
There are signs all over the place so no need to have a navagator in the car so do not worry on that score it is not like driving in the UK much better and the drivers we found seem to be well mannered .
    Enjoy your next stay .

Hi Stephen welcome to the forum, It is possible to enjoy your visit to Florida without driving. But will need to make sure you choose the right location. so you can walk to restaurants, stores and supermarkets etc. There are local taxis that will transport you and from to the parks and other attractions.

But I would not dismiss altogether not hiring a car, will give you so much more freedom for very little cost
Whatever you decide have a great time when you visit Fiorida [msnwink]

    Hi Steven,
I agree with others on this forum a car is a must for surely you want to see more of Florida than 2 weeks of theme parks. For instance theres the malls, the parks and the wildlife. Also the restaurants are far cheaper than in the theme parks and what about the beaches have a good look at what else florida offers you. You will find lots of info on this site. Whatever you decide have a great holiday.

    Hi Steven,

Welcome to the forum. I can understand some of your concerns about driving in Florida but it is so much easier to drive there than in the UK. I was initially very hesitant to drive and left if for hubby to do but once I tried it there was no going back. We now fight over who is going to drive[msnwink] There should be no problem with your wife's navigation skills either if you hire the sat nav from the link above along with your car hire.

A villa is certainly the way forward, no more being cramped into one room and sharing a pool with loads of people, not to mention the noise etc.

Enquire on the above 3 sites with your requirements and I am sure you will find a lovely home for your holiday and the owners are so happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum I also had concerns about driving in Florida as I detest driving at home in the UK. When my husband had to cancel his plans at the last minute, I had the choice of cancel too, or drive....... well I haven't looked back. [msncool] I just love it, no rush, no speeding no hunched up over the wheel not letting anyone out (I live in M25 region [msnembarrased] ) and with a sat nav from UScarhire, already programmed with your address and all the sights, no problem
If you put an enquiry in to the sites above and mention you want to be very close to the parks and near to restaurants, you will also have the choice of using taxis if you fancy a drink or two at a restaurant one night. [party2]
I really believe you will love villa life

    Welcome!

I'm sure you'll enjoy having so much space and so many facilities in a villa. I don't drive in Florida (hubsband likes trying different cars) but last month I had to as I went before him. Well I drove from Tampa to our house in Orlando, around the local area and also picked him up from Orlando Airport and felt a sense of achievement. Like Shirley says the roads are not as hunched up, parking spaces are large. Just take your time and its not difficult. Hiring a car through this experienced site is easy and I did use a sat nav to help me but I would do it again - and probably will next summer when I'll arrive at a different time to him.

It really is worth a try on your next visit. [msnsmile]

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum. As other owners have said, a villa is much more relaxing and even though it is better with a car, you will be so relaxed that the driving won't be a problem. I drive out there and if I can, anyone can.
