    Brittany

My daughter & family have just come back from Brittany. They paid £900 for 7 days stay in a country cottage which turned out to be a flat.

In the lounge there was a table and 4 wooden chairs. No Setee to sit on. The working kitchen was a sink fridge and 2 electric rings. The satellite TV did not work and 2 bedrooms had basic furniture.

You can't believe that people think that our villas are to expensive when they charge £900 in France for a place like that.

We've had some very happy and satisfactory hols in France over the last three years , great country great culture, though we booked through a well known French Living [msnwink] web site.

Each time we booked we were in in the Dordogne, private pool, 6 berth min. and never ever paid over £1400 for two weeks. (Never ever £900 for a week!!!)

OK the Gites in France have a certain 'rustic' charm, but we love that as much as we love the standard of the Villas on here. It's all about doing your research to me.

For the record I don't believe the villas on here are expensive (just booked one for £800 for two, yes that's two weeks), what is expensive about Florida is getting there (we had to add £1,500 for a car and flights) if I was coming from New York it would be a bargain!!![msnsmile2]

As it happens I need to get there from the UK [msnsad]

I can get to France from home for a few hundred quid.

I still think that Florida offers a great deal!

£800 for two weeks in a fully furnished villa with a pool?? Even putting the flights into the equation, it is still fantastic value. Especially as the Euro is getting so strong.

I've stayed in gites in France, and while there is culture galore and I really enjoyed my holidays there, I don't think I'll be going back!

We have just come back from Malta and the price and the price for the accommodation is expensive and in such poor condition. They don't maintain them like we do our US home and even at £550 per week for a 3 bed is still fantastic value for what you are getting. You would never get like for like in any other country.
