Travel Insurance

I dont know if anyone can help but is there any recomendations of where to obtain travel insurance at a reasonable rate. My wife has asthma and i am currently taking tablets for colesterol and i didnt know that it would be so much trouble. Dont know what people with serious ailments do.

It is best to try the asthma society (or whatever its called). We got insurance to cover diabetes for less that we would pay for regular insurance (the the diabetes society).

My son (23) has diabetes and Hubby suffers from Asthma. I never had any problems insuring them with anyone, all the usual insurance companies will insure them. Just state the problem, they ask a few questions, what sort of meds you take etc, how long you've had the problem and thats it. Son had to pay an extra £6.00. Hubbys was no extra charge. Hubby now has travel insurance with his bank account, he double checked with them about the asthma, and has no extra loading for the cover.
My mum (78) has major health problems, has had a couple of strokes, high cholesterol, emphasema (sp) and takes about a zillion tablets a day...I took her to Spain 3 years ago and it cost £78 for 7 days. I would be interested to see what 2 weeks in the USA would cost as she would love to go there.

hi florida2009 we travelled in april with our daughter who has had a triple transplant and she is in and out of hospital, after many rejections from various companys we were finally covered by direct line travel insurance they charged us £46 pounds for her for two weeks with all her medical conditions included!!! good luck

We have a friends travelling with us to Florida in September who three years ago had a triple by-pass, after an extensive search for him I found that Marks & Spencers offered the best deal.

For anyone over 50 Alliance and Leicester do a Premier 50 account with free worldwide travel insurance up to 79. Other than more serious problems such as a stroke, heart problems it automatically covers anyone taking regular medications as long as the person has not seen a specialist within the last 3 months(other than for regular check ups) or been admitted to a hospital overnight in the last 3 months.

There is a charge of £10 per month for the account but if you can leave £2000 in the account the interest offsets the bank fees and provides free travel insurance.

The cover is for 30 days but when we asked to extend it to 45 days (half way through the year) they only charged an additional £15 to cover both of us.
