Yes there are ATMs in most supermarkets and it depends what sort of card you're using and the company who owns the ATM. The usual charge (if there is one) is $2 per transaction.

The difference between UK and US ATM's seems to be that you put your card in and are instructed to withdraw it immediately, same for using a card at gas stations.
Seems the safe way to me, you don't put your card in and 'hope' it will pop out again at the end of the transaction, it is in your possession, and generally within sight at all times except for a very few seconds.

The banks have ATM.s as drive thru's too & depending on your bank in the UK you nay find there is no charge for withdrawing cash.

In the past we have used Publix as they had free withdrawals but this might have changed recently.
We have just come back from Florida and Publix are charging $1 at the moment and most other ATM's $2. So we took out the maximum $400 when we wanted cash so that the charge wasn't too great.
I don't think anywhere is free anymore
Remember your bank in the UK may also charge you for using your bank card when in the USA or other countries.
Lloyds TSB charge £1 per transaction on a Classic Current account no matter what the amount withdrawn or debited.
Just something to think about!!

thanks for replys i will use the atms as even with small charges i will get a better rate than using travellers cheques
But be careful which card you use. 1stly is it a Debit Card or a Credit Card? Most CREDIT cards charge a 'cash withdrawl' fee + they charge interest from Day 1 - not from your statement date.
Have a look at [website link edited]
(Dont think they do tickets or car hire!) [sorry but they do]
