    Virgin baggage allowance.

    Hi everyone.

We are flying to Orlando with Virgin and just wondered how strict people have found them with their luggage allowance on return flight. I know each person can have 2 pieces of luggage at 23 Kg ea plus a hand luggage, but if you are a few kilo over this do they charge? and if so how much?

    Thanks for advice.

23 kilo is more for health and safety as this is considered the maiximum one person should lift unaided. Just thinking and the safe lifting limit is 35 kilos but virgin allow up to 32 (to be safe). Sio you may be able to pay more for up to 32 kilos, not sure of fee. If the bag wieghs more they will not take it unless you empty some of the contents.

2 x 23kg each is a fair bit, especially when you think some charter companies only give you 15kg each. If youre planning on bringing a lot of stuff back, cut down on what you take out. If you are staying in a villa most have laundry facilities so this lessens the amount of clothes required.

We booked in a pleasure island and we were not much over limit but they still wanted to charge us so we went for a bag to the outlets and put some in and they did not charge when we went back ,It was just one case a little over .
So be careful and try to get the right weight going back .

We noticed this time they were very keen, one of my cases was over and they made us move it around , or go get another bag.

We were a couple of kilos over in one bag out of the 9 that we checked in at Downtown Disney. All the others were well under but they still made us shift some stuff out of the 'heavy' one.

They do seem to be a lot keener than we remember them being in the past though.

Definately the airlines are all now keener on the baggage weight! We flew with North West and they were very actively encouraging people to weigh their cases before they checked in - they had a big set of scales before you entered the queue. All ours were under, thankfully!

23kgs per case is a lot of luggage and you can fit plenty in!

Have you looked on the virgin website to see if they have a scale of charges for overweight luggage?
