Gotta say, it's tired and all needs a big revamp.

Take Tomorrowland, for example. I've been going to Disney since the early 70's and have seen it more or less from the start - Tomorrowland, to a youngster back then, really was a futuristic place, today it's dated beyond belief and they've lost the "vision" thing. It just seems a bit naff.

I was there the first year Epcot opened, it was impressive then, but it hasn't changed or moved with the times since - remember what it stands for? Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow - that may have rang true 20 or 30 years ago, but it doesn't anymore.

We were at Universal when it first opened as well, and many of the rides didn't work, but it has remained fresh in comparison. On our visit to Orlando this year, we only went to Universal, and we've got a 6yr and a 10yr old, who should be better entertained by Disney, but aren't.

They've lost the vision and they're trying to do things on the cheap in comparison with the original plan, that's the problem.

I don't go for the rides..I go to a place to look around..eat..maybe thats why I see its not what it could be...or once was...when I see old picture of the place from years ago...you can see how its changed...and not really for the better...

There was a few years ago a website showing you then and now...and saying the same thing...
We were just watching a show on the TV about it...and the place looked better in the 70s...

I have to agree with the original OP and Tonish.

I have been lucky to visit since 82, back then i think the whole thing of visiting Florida was special.
Not many people had been and certainly not 2 or 3 times a year as is possible for some now.
Back then it was a trip of a lifetime, now i don't think that is the case.

It has become so much more attainable and therefore less special, in my eyes at least.

I suppose that even now the first couple of times will be special if you have never been before.

The Disney Magic still works for us - its the only place I have ever seen my 14 year old stroppy teenager skip hand in hand with his 10 year old sister. They normally do their worst to irritate each other 24-7.

If I could bottle it and take it home I would.

It's like to tooth fairy and father Christmas - if you stop believing they don't call any more.

Oh so true i love the comparison

    Agree with Tonish about Epcot.

IMO that was easily the most interesting park for adults, but going back last year(to take friends on their first visit) it was run down and tired.

We still enjoy all the Disney parks after 18 years of visiting Florida and can't wait to visit in December and see all the Christmas. Universal is OK but you can keep IOA, that to us to just rides and nothing much else.

I only have to hear the music as I enter the park gates for that old Disney magic to start working. I can't wait to have grandchildren to relive the magic through their eyes, but even as an old 'un Disney still has the capacity to enchant and excite, to thrill and to scare, and to bring a lump to my throat as I watch the firework display at Epcot.

Has it lost its magic? Not for me, even after 10 years of visiting Florida, and I guess not for all the millions of people who have visited and will still visit in the future.

When it loses its magic I really will be ready for that great Disney park in the sky.......[msnwink]

Same for me Ellie. I have travelled all over the World and visited many Countrues and seen their individual 'Wonders'

I must admit when I first visited Magic Kingdom I was taken back to a child again...... Even after countless visits it still has the same effect on me.

It is one of the first Parks we visit in Florida and we all agree, as a family we always make a visit on our last day to say Good bye......... till next time[msnwink]

We all have a favourite Park which is our own preference but ALL agree Magic Kingdom touches the spot...... sad I know[msnembarrased]

Good job really we don't all like the same thing...more room for others to go to see everything...my neighbour is friends with someone who is high up in Disney ...and there was talk of maybe at some point closing the doors to people not staying at the parks Christmas because it was becoming to full...or only letting a few in...that was a few years ago...so does not look like that ideas been taken up..

I don't think Disney has lost its magic at all. You have to look at the target audience with disney and who they are trying to cater for. Universal on the other hand tend to go for the rides aspect, where as Disney go for the whole package and feel. I like Universal more as I am older and like thrill rides, where children will like Disney far more as they can connect with the caracters and parades.
