    gulf coast in january

we will be visiting busch gardens in january so we have decided to stay at the coast for the night any ideas where to stay , worried some places will be closed or very quiet.A hotel with facilities would be nice,or am i wasting my time and would be better off out and about sightseeing

Don't worry about the Gulf Coast being closed in the winter - November to Easter is High Season, with people from the cold northern States spending weeks and months in the area.

As for staying just one night it may be difficult to obtain private accommodation ie villa for that period. Stay a few nights and discover the area perhaps just north of Tampa and into Clearwater and beyond.

Everywhere will be open and far from quiet with hotel rates at their highest all year. Oddly enough, it's more likely that you'll find the Gulf Coast area too busy during that period.

As others have said January falls into the high season on the coast.

It is lovely time to visit so I would plan a few days & explore.
