    Thanks everyone.
What with nintendo ds, psp, ps3...I'm hoping if he gets an x box there will be plenty of games. He said the same about the wii my niece has one and although they like to use it they get fed up of the same games. Hopefully I should be able to get a decent bundle but I hate it when you go into shops with the pushy salepeople so I'd rather have some idea before we go.

There are loads of games on the xbox360, i have a 360, ps3 and wii and i must say the xbox is by far the best console and i would recommend getting the elite as it has a much bigger hard drive, 120GB and with the new software update coming soon you can install the games on the hard drive for faster loading. highly recommended.

The only games that I know that work from the US is the DS games, but there could be others.

Some Blue Ray movies are locked to a code (similar to regional) so don't think you can stock up on any old film from the US that will play on your UK PS3! There are sites giving lists of what movies play on UK sites. Goggle the phrase and you'll find them easy or DM for more info.
