    From the BBC

"The pound has fallen to its lowest level since April against the euro after a warning that UK public debt levels may not be sustainable.

The Bank of England cautioned that foreign investors may not be as willing to purchase UK assets, thus hurting the pound's long-term exchange rate."

Well, we're certainly at a relative low, but I still bet on it climbing back up to the 190's by the end of the year. Although, I'm not a particularly successful gambler.

You get five virtual pints if you are correct - I get just one if you are wrong.

I would be very surprised if the rate was above 1.60 by the end of the year!

Maybe not below but I don't see it being much above £1.60.

A low level might suit some people Robert.[msnwink]

Lets hope that it attracts holiday makers to Florida as the Euro looks very depressing at the moment.

This morning the Pound has dropped below $1.60 for the first time for many months I think. Not a good sign.[msnsad]

$1.6004 on Bloomberg, seems to have settled around the $1.60 - $1.65 mark over the last few months. Better than March time when it was below $1.40

Better than March time when it was below $1.40[/quote]Last time it was under $1.60 was in May but, as you say, at that time it was viewed as pretty good in terms of where it had been in the months prior to that. In terms of the last few months however, it's at the bottom end of the range now.

We were looking good around $1.70 just a few weeks ago and I'm just hoping this isn't the start of another fall like we saw around this time last year.
