    Photo id?

    Hi,
Can anyone advise me please. Anyone know if photo id is being asked for when using travellers cheques to pay for items, last time we were in florida think we just used our driving licence but we only have the old style, no photo id kind, dont want to carry passports everyday. Someone told us they needed photo id to use them, dont want to get stuck and cant use them.

    Thanks

Linus I think it is law in the US that you always have some form of photo ID on your person at all times. I always carry my passport in my handbag as like you my driving license is the old style.

It is only law for Us residents over a certain age.

    Hi,

We have just got back from Orlando, and we used travellers checks all the time and not once did we get asked for I.D. The only time we where asked for id, is when we went to walmart and bought beer. Which we took as a compliment as we are both in our 30's.

Below is a reply I had from Universal about photo ID to get into the parks, but she makes a more general point. Don't know if this helps or adds to the confusion.

Thank you for contacting Universal Orlando®.

Please be assured that clear photocopies of your valid passport will be accepted as identification for ticketing purposes at our turnstiles; however, for credit card transactions, for the purchase of alcoholic beverages, and for admission into our nightclubs, you will need your original valid photo identification.

Also, please be advised that Florida law requires persons over eighteen (18) years of age to carry valid photo identification at all times (no photocopies).

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at (407) 224-4233, option nine (9).

Again, thank you for contacting us. We look forward to entertaining you

    Best Regards,

Even at 28 and 29 yr olds my daughter and daughter-in-law had to show photo id to have a glass of wine with dinner etc. The fact that we (mum and dad) were with them and would vouch for them did not matter.

In the case of alcohol, one waitress explained that it would be herself that was prosecuted for serving to under age, not the proprietor.

The same thing goes for travellers cheques and cc payments. Might be worth getting your licence updated if you have time before you travel. If not be sure to carry your passport in a safe place with you.
