We found that basucally whatever price they are in UK £'s is the same as the $ price, just tax to add so almost half price.

If you visit one of the many game stops you can purchase some very cheap 2nd hand games in very good condition for the PSP and DS.

In one of the games shops they had ps2 games on offer for $9.99, cheaper than the second hand games.

US PS2 games do not work in UK machines unless your PS2 has been modified.

Not true. Sony has said on a number of occasions that there is no region lock on PSP games, and they will not introduce it. Therefore any PSP game will play on any PSP console.

However, that's not true of the UMD movie disks, many of which do have region lock due to licensing restrictions.

I did not want anybody to think that PS2 games will work here in the UK. Which games shop were they selling PS2 games for that price? We purchase Xbox games for our Villa and if the Xbox games are the same price as the PS2 games they are worth buying.
