Space shuttle launch viewing from Cocoa Beach Pier

Hello

We are having our first trip to Florida in October 2008 and happily discovered that there is a shuttle launch due on the 8th (although may be brought forward by 3 days). We have probably rather stupidly banked on this launch staying on the 8th (1:30 am) and have booked accomadation for that night in Cocoa beach with the plan to get LTA tickets, we since discovered that Cocoa beach is apparently a good place to see the launch from anyway (just not the noise)is this really a good idea..or should we hold out and try to get the tickets we want or should we take the trip to Titusville? presumably titusville isn't that far from Cocoa beach but the traffic might be a nightmare.

Any thoughts, hints and tips much appreciated

If the launch takes of on time you will have a very view if the hotel you have booked is on the beach as a prime spot .
There is always lots of traffic on the day so good to stay there see if near the time if you can change the booking if they do not go on that date it is worth asking .
