    Ravtinos trip part 3

Set off to Maderia Beach good run as I just plugged in Tom Tom and switched on cruise control (getting good at this[msncool])we stopped off at the Ellenton Mall, I like this mall, we had lunch here and I called in to see my friend who works here, had a good chat and then we were on our way again.

We went over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge which was an awesome sight we arrived a little early but the condo was ready, it was a corner penthouse right on the beach, we unpacked and went to Publix and then decided to walk up the beach to Johns Pass boardwalk, we had ice cream -yummy, strolled back along beach which was a good hours walk.

    Wednesday

Sunny, we popped across rd for breakfast, I have to say trying to cross this rd was like crossing the M1, when we came out it looked overcast so we decided to drive up the coast to Clearwater going along the beach rd, there were road works for miles so I got to see the sights[msnwink], drove through Indian rocks/shore, Reddington, Bellaire etc.
We had stayed in Clearwater on our honeymoon in 1990 down near the Adams Mark hotel and gosh had it changed nearly all the hotels down that far side had gone to be replaced by codos etc, and there wasent much beach left, lots of new roads and developments, we had a good nose around even over the bridge into Clearwater, saw the farmers market and the courthouse.
Now from here we decided to go a different way back as Adam had seen in a book that there was Panera bread at Bellaire Bluffs, so although we roughly knew the direction (I use this term loosely) we set off towards Largo and more by luck than management we found the Bluffs and the Panera bread and boy was it busy, so Adam was pleased and had his soup! We decided to go back along the 19 and via the outlet Malls at Largo, well we found it and decided to park in the middle and walk around as the shops are all along the carparks, we had only got in the first shop when the heavens opened and torrential rain came down, we mnaged to stay undercover until we were half way round, but then we really needed to car to get to the other side, so been that my brolly was in the car! I put a plastic bag over my hair(improvment I hear you say) I got the car and picked Adam and Bob up we drove to Game stop, Mitchells and Target, I have to confess I bought another pair of Crocs flip flop as I have nearly worn this pair out. Then we set off back again in the rain got back around 9 so that had been a long day[zzz]

    Thursday

Went down to the beach this morning, the block of condo we were in has all of the ground floor set out in big picnic tables and gas BBQs, it also has chairs, longers and brollys for the guests to use, lots of people seem to cook here on a night to see the sunseting and then saty and eat while the kids play on the beach or in the sea. Anyways we sat and people watched fro a while, built sandcastles and played coits, we went up for lunch, went back down and within a minute the wid whipped up and down came the rain[msnsad][msnsad] everyone shot underneath, it had come from nowhere, we decided that this must have been our time to call it quits, so we went up got changed and headed out up the coast towards St Pters, we went to Treasure Island and down to Sunset Beach I liked it here, strolled along the beach(yes the rain had stopped) back in car and onto Pass a Grill beach now this I like ans we went shelling here on a lovely inlet, chatted to a couple - man and son fishing from Newcastle, though the rain had stopped it was still a little overcast but warm.

From here we drove up to Pasadena and had a subway(first since Tues) we then drove back via a different route and went to Johns Pass we just managed to park as it was busy, we went for ice cream, strolled around and saw three dolphins swimming in the inlet, this made my night, we listened to a guy playing the sax, back to condo, went on beach to see if our creation was there alas it was dust (or sand ) watched TV and to bed, we were going to Bush tomorrow, soz thats all for now going back outside in the sunshine

Great trip report Jacqueline, we stayed right on the beach at Treasure Island during our trip in April and I can picture all the places you mention as you drive up and down the Gulf coast. I love spending time at the coast, Florida has so much to offer.
