I bought a Balanzza scale before our last trip. Very easy to use, and seems to be accurate. Lift up the case, wait a few seconds for the scale to bleep and the jobs done. Uses a strap to attach to the case, instead of the more common hook.
What will customs make of it ,Will they want to look at it just as it is like a computer .?
Be a good thing saves going through your case if over weight as we always seem to do and take things out we may need .

Will this make the cases heavier, by a couple of pounds. I would prefer to have extra light cases, but it might be some others cup of tea

Ceri you took the words out of my mouth,I was thinking the exact same thoughts, lighter luggage for me would be an answer to my prayers[msnwink]
We used to use one case to travel between two of us...but after having to pay for an over weight case last trip (they had put the amount we could carry down while we were away)....we now carry 2 very large cases with little in one just in case...its a pain in the lines now with people taking out stuff and putting it in different cases....all people do is walk away and add stuff anyway.......I can't pull a case with much in it because of my neck...that is why we always used one for 2 of us...but the fact of using one case for 2 people does not count... which does make it hard for people traveling alone with young kids old people and handicapped..
we have a set of luggage scales too - they were a lifesaver on our return flight at christmas time!!!!
they are accuarte too!
