December - good points and bad

We are considering December this year. Previously we've done other months and Thanksgiving which was heaving. I think when we were there it was possibly one of the coldest snaps Florida had seen. It was certainly on the news everyday.

When is the least busy time in December? I don't mind the weather being cooler but how cold is it at night, say if you are out at the parks as we will be taking a young baby with us?

    Thanks

As soon as Thanksgiving is over it tends to quieten down a lot for a few weeks before the Xmas rush.

I would advise a light jacket for the eveningsand a blanket for the baby.
Daytime is still very pleasant, shorts and t shirt should be fine.

We often visit our villa in December. Early December is the least busy time, although you still have all the lovely Christmas decorations and shows available so its a great time to go. Disney is enchanting at this time, too. You must not miss the Osborne Festival of Lights at Hollywood Studios (MGM that was).

The weather can vary, and we have experienced some fantastically warm days, and occassional cold snaps. It is wise to take a jacket for the evenings, and something warm for the baby just in case. If you take a few warm things it really doesn't matter if you don't end up using them. If you do get a chilly day it can be t-shirt weather the following day, so it doesn't normally last for long.

The only thing that may be a bit chilly is sitting on the concrete seats waiting for Fantasmic to start - so take something to sit on! [msnwink]

The best bit about visiting Orlando in December is that it is not humid, and the skies are often fantastically clear and very very blue.

We love December - you have all the benefits of Florida sunshine, plus the shops are full of lovely Christmassy bits, and Father Christmas has a marvellous grotto at Mall at Millenia. There is so much to do at Christmas - there is a fantastic Ice attraction at Gaylord Palms, which is worth a visit.

Hope you have a great time. [xmas1]

We went last Christmas and had really lovely weather except for a couple of cooler evenings. At New Year at midnigh at Celebration we only had tshirts on and I usually feel the cold.

On a previous occasion we were washed out one New Year and freezing another. It hasnt stopped us though we are going back this December from about 7th so will catch the run up to Christmas and the post Christmas sales.

It is like many places there is no way of guaranteeing any particular king of weather at ANY time of year so it's best just to go prepared for cooler weather and then you wont go far wrong. You can usually be sure of some sunshine most days and the afternooon rainstorms have stopped by then so with a young baby you'll probably find the weather more comfortable.

    Thanks!

We've done Thanksgiving before and the weather was a little cool. We had some hot days but we thought December should be better for the baby. He turns one on New Year's Eve so although we won't be there this year for his first birthday we are hoping to get him there sometime in the future. This year we'd like to arrive home just in time for Christmas. The general idea is to have all that Florida sunshine beforehand and miss out on the crazy, crazy world of the pre-Christmas rush at home!

December is the dry season so at least you do not bother about the rain , It goes darker earlier so shorter days but you can get some warm days as said before take a cardigan or jumper and a blanket for your baby .

My sentiments exactly, although we will be there for Christmas are coming home for New Year and hope to do lots of the Christmas shopping in the sales. The duty free allowance will have gone up a bit to €430 by then so can bring some more back.

Just before Xmas is a great time to go. You can buy some of your Xmas pressies while you are over there too!

We go every Christmas and the weather is varied - We have seen temperatures of 94f and 34f although if it drops down that low it usually on lasts a day or two at the most. Last Christmas we had lovely weather, temps in the 80's mostly until the last couple of days when it got cold. The thing is though even if it is cold the sun is still shining !
