    Mosquitos

    Hi

Please can anyone tell me if there are any mosquitos around at this time of year? Only 7 days to go!

Will probably go and have an airboat ride so was expecting some there.

    Any replies would be helpful.

    Thanks.

You are probably well advised to put on some insect repellent when on the airboat ride, but funnily enough I have never been bothered with mosquitos while in Florida, which is more than I can say for any visit anywhere in the mediterranean.

We are here at the moment and haven't seen a mosquito, however as Karen has said, it is best to wear repellent whilst on an airboat ride. [msnsmile]

Thanks so much for your replies.

Mosquitos seem to love me, but I can't say the same for them! Went to Cuba a couple of years ago and it was awful (bite wise!).

I have never had a problem with Mozzies thankfully -

I have used natural repellents - Lavender for one and Avon skin so soft

Unless you're going to somewhere 'wild' like the Everglades or out in the middle of countryside, you'll find that mozzies are sprayed for regularly, particularly around lakes, and are not a problem.

I'm usually eaten alive in Europe but I've never yet been bitten by a mozzie in Florida, despite many years of travelling there.

I have been bitten by a couple when sitting by the lake at The Tiki Bar but apart from that no problem. Just take a can off OFF with you in case (buy it in Walmart)

I was bothered a bit walking through the wilds at Lake Louisa, but I am a mossi magnet [msneek] but surprisingly only got a couple of bites.
Normally don't have a problem in Florida, but the cages over the pools really help

I get bitten alive by the mozzies if I travel to the Canaries or Greece and the Greek islands but so far never in Florida and have been going for many years. You are more likly to get bitten during the evening if you are around water. I dont bother with an insect repellent at all in Florida unless I am likely to be around water during the evening.

I too am a Mozzie Magnet in Europe. The only time I was bitten in Florida was when visiting a petting farm. We are going to Boggy Breek next week so I'll buy Off Off just in case.
I've never been bothered at any of the parks or around the villa though.
