Following on from recent threads as to whether to take an indirect flight or not what the Americans call cabin/hand luggage has a different meaning to those of us in restricted UK.
Almost everything but the kitchen sink is taken on planes as hand luggage, cases that passengers cannot physically get up into the overhead lockers. I have seen passengers put their cases in the first available empty locker and then walk to the back of the plane to find their seat.
Must confess to being somewhat unBritish in my attitude on an US domestic flight - you have to fight for your corner.
