Lot better then it was and probably no worse than anywhere else. Even so, never under-estimate the ability of BA to send your luggage to anywhere in the world you aren't!
Bryan(my husband) says it has been working well lately, but they never report that on tv, only the nightmares.

Probably, just get there in plenty of time, it is late bags, like those of the staff on standby that are most likely not to make it
My husband has flown from T5 and had no problems.
We had to use T5 in early May and there was no problem whatsoever. It was the weekend of the strike by some of the European air traffic controllers and we were meant to be flying from Gatwick to Milan with EasyJet. They pulled the flight, without telling us, and as we had checked in and already flown into Gatwick, we just went straight through to security.
Long story, short, the only option was to catch a 7.00 pm flight to Milan from Heathrow, instead of the mid-day one from Gatwick.
Anyway, T5 was a pleasant experience. It is obviously geared around the fact that there are a lot of people trapped in a confined space for a period of time, there for it is unbelievably retail orientated. However, it is not uncomfortable or unpleasant and no problems with transiting through it.
We fly through T5 on our way back to Germany. Hopefully they are now up to speed with it. I did hear that the CEO of BA is making it his No1 priority.
We used T% in May and June this year and actually found it very nice. No problems at ll with bags and everything on time.
