    ID at Parks

    Hi,

I've just received my park tickets today and it says we have to provide ID to get into the parks. Do we have to do this everytime or just the first time we visit the park? I don't really want to be carrying my passport about with me all the time, would a photocopy do as ID?

It will just be for your initial visit, after that your pass for the parks is your ID. In fact I cannot recall being asked for any form of ID even for our first visit.

We always take ours for the first visit but have yet to be asked. Maybe they check randomly? If you want to use travellers cheques at Busch you will need id. I don't know about the other parks but I remember Busch being particularly difficult. I wanted to buy something, hubby elsewhere with passports, I went to sign the cheque but they wouldn't accept it without the id. We were quite a long way from the shop by the time we hooked up (I don't do big rides so went of with littley) so I didn't bother buying.

I have just changed my UK driving licence into the photo one as I too do not like carrying my passport around. It didn't cost a lot to do and you can get it checked at the post office for a small fee before you send it off, that way you do not have to send your passport with the application. It only took a couple of weeks to come through and it is the size of a credit card [msnsmile]

Dawn when my son applied for his driving licence online, he had the option to use his passport photo. He didn't as he was 11 when it was taken, but big brother is certainly out there [msnwink]

Sometimes they ask for it sometimes they dont. We were asked once this week but not the second time we went.

After your fist visit with the tickets, your fingerprint will be your ID at the turnstile.

Unlike here in the U.K carrying ID on you in the U.S.A is a normal part of everyday life for its citizens.

A photo driving license is a very handy thing to have and carry, as we have been asked for ID when paying by credit card in supermarkets and other stores. Also I can remember being asked for ID at the gatehouse when visiting restaurants at Disney Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

If you are fortunate enough to look under 21 then you will be asked for ID when buying alcohol anywhere.

Dont think we have ever been asked for id at the parks but better to take something with you for the first visit. We have also been asked for id when paying by cc for some things.

Just to clarify, the parks can ask for photo ID at anytime. They sometimes have purges on his when they have a high volume of people trying to share tickets. This is more of an issue with the Universal parks than Disney. Universal can be quite firm when asking for ID.
Saying that it is rare but I would take ID for the first visit.
