Villa in March / April / May Next Year

My and my mate from work are looking at the possibility of renting a villa next year.

Now if we were to do so we would be looking to rent one for about 5 weeks, he will be 19 at the time and i am 23, do you think this would put off any potential renters due to his age of 19 ?

Also any advise on if a villa can start to be rented halfway through a week e.g Wednesday ?

All the villa's we have seen seem to be huge, now we have look at the possibility of a hotel/motel and sure the villa will be more expensive, but hell it should be worth it

Any advise would be very very welcome.

    Cheers
    Sam

'Me and My Mate' does make you sound like a couple of Likely Lads but I am sure you are both responsible males.

Most owners either flatly refuse the take bookings from under 21s or resist them. Put in an enquiry into one of the sites at the top of Forum and when you get replies they may contain a 'phone number or direct you to the owner's website which may have more contact details. If you like the look of the villas give the owners a ring - believe me they will be grateful to talk to you and you can give them confidence that nothing untoward is going to happen to their second home which after all they have worked hard for and is worth many ,000 of $.

Just the two of you - that is no problem, some owners have town houses or condos (flats) which are smaller and even though 'you and your mate' work together do you really want to be on top of each other during your holiday.

Mid-week bookings, generally no problems at all.

I hope you both enjoy yourselves, tell your mate he can't drink until he is 21 and even at 23 you will probably be asked for photographic ID at any and every attempt to buy liquor.

My miminum age for renters is 21.

I would probably ask for a larger Refundable security deposit due to the young age of the pair of you.

Car hire will also be more expensive for 'your mate'.

As others have said he will not be able to drink. Myself ans my sister tried ot get an alchoholic drink in Disney once, she was almost 30 and i was well into my 20's but no ID - no drink.

A villa / condo is a good idea especially as you are looking to be out there for a few weeks. A hotel room between you would just turn into a nightmare.

Yea I went in March/April this year but went into one of those Studio Apartments for 17 nights, after a week it did get to the point were we did need more space, hence why i am looking of a proper villa for next year.

It might be more than just me and him but at the moment we are the only 2 that are willing to stump up the amount of cash its going to cost for this.

I don't drink and with him being under the age he will also not be drinking.

Thanks for yet more advise .

Just hope that Almo deal is running for when i go next year, that will save me even more that the Budget deal this year.

Five weeks is a long time and part of that is peak season so it would be a good idea to reserve your villa/condo asap.

As Clare said, most rentals may not be available to anyone under 25 but there are exceptions. You may be required to pay a higher security deposit (fully refundable if there is no damage/breakages caused).

When you put in your request you would need to let the owner see that you are two responsible adults who do not want to stay in a hotel but prefer the comfort of a home.

Car hire may also be harder to find and more expensive but you should click on the car hire link at the top of the page and it will give you an idea of prices.

Do not reserve your villa/condo until you know how much this will all cost you as you may lose your reservation fee if you have to cancel.

Good luck, and have fun on your trip.

So as an example, if i came to you asking to rent your Villa it would be a no no from the start ?

Everything is going into my name, Flights, Villa, Car rental etc and i will be 23 at the time (i turn 23 next tuesday ).

I did a similar trip this year as i said above.

I understand why people might be reluctant to rent to somone of the age of 19 but i don't feel that age should be the only factor, if the person is resonsible enough then age should not come into the equation

But i guess it is the right of the owers to say who can and can't rent there nice 2nd homes, after all it will be there pride and joy.

    Cheers

You realise that you will be required at the time of booking to declare exactly who is going into the property. Don't book for the two of you and then have five or six staying, for a start the owner's management company will know and will be straight back to the owner.

Nobody, but nobody is trying to put you off your trip, it is just to ensure that you realise that you will be staying in someone's private home, not an inpersonal chain hotel/motel room.

Get looking and get booked up quick, you are wanting to go in a very busy and popular time of the year.

Keep the Forum informed how you get on.

It&'s far from putting me off

Don't worry, I would not be that irresponsible that I would book the Villa for 2 and then 5 or 6 turn up, at the moment its 2 but it could be 3/4 but I very much doubt that, I would of course let the owner know beforehand that it might be going from 2 to 4 etc and if they would be happy with that.

I will do everything above board as that is how I also like to be treated

Thanks for the help so far though Clare and others.

Please do send an enquiry via the sites above. Let people know your ages from the start then only villa owners who agree to younger people need reply.

Thank You, I have submited my request to the sites above.

Are they all the same sites ? because they were very similar and the request forms were almost exact.

I will feel like a bit of a plonker if people are getting 3 request from me....
