How Far? & What would you recommend

    Hi

Can anyone please tell me the time distance between Discovery cove and Davenport Lakes Community?

Is Discovery Cove also worth visiting with a 12, 8 and 4 year old?

Or there is the Dolphin plus facility in Key Largo (2 night trip ), what is the distance between this and Davenport Lakes?

We want to do a swim with dolphins but there seem to be so many choices out there my head is spinning !!!

Any advice would be appreciated on this subject - Thank you !!!

    Thanks for that [msnsmile2]

The advert I saw said you leave at 0800 and return the following night at 2000, on the first afternoon you do your swim with dolphins and the second morning/afternoon you do an evergaldes ride and you get to see an alligator and snake handling show then before returning there is a choice to visit the rich and famous's houses in Miami.................and you get home for 8pm?????????............Surely it would take a while traveling 400 miles?[confused]

    Hi Deborah,

If you are planning to go to Discovery Cove you should book early as it does get booked up because they limit the number of people each day. It is worth every cent and is a very memorable day, your older children will love it but to properly swim with the dolphin you must be able to swim which may prohibit your 4 year old.

I thought the minimum age for the dolphin swim (at DC) may be 6 so the youngest would not be able to do that if so but can take part in all the other activities

Sorry I meant the amount of excursions, not the ones involving swimming with dolphins!, should have made me post a bit clearer[msnscared]

Debz, have you been to Orlando before?

There is so much to do there I, personally. would not consider going off to Key Largo unless I had been to Orlando several times and had done everything I wanted in that area. It is a long way ....especially with a 4 year old and will take a good portion of your holiday....... a day to travel there and back as well as the 2 nights you spend away.

There is lots to do and see at Discovery Cove, not just swimming with the dolphins.

Why not tell us the other things you would like to experience then people can make suggestions?[msnsmile2]

Deb, the last time we drove to Key Largo from Davenport it took us 6 hours. It is one long drive and the bit through Miami can delay you depending on traffic. If you havent been to Orlando before choose the Discovery cove option for a Dolphin swim. You really need to go down to the keys for at least a week to appreciate all they have to offer. The keys are a holiday in themselves and not really suitable for a quick 2 day trip unless you want to spend over a day on a coach with bored kids and watching the sunshine go by. Plan a trip to the keys on your next visit to Florida, they are worth visiting and it is a totally different Florida experience, especially down in Key West. Certainly not a trip to rush. Gill
