I really wouldn't leave it at that. I can understand why you have given in at this point, but would really take it further. Send a letter of complaint to the MD of the travel firm and copy in the airline and the Daily Mail and tell them you expect a prompt reply. As Keith points out there are reasons for this, but this was a mistake made because the tour agency was pushing you. It was not a person change and I am sure you could have proved this. I am also sure had they wanted to, they could have sorted this out for far less cost.
