Hello peeps, just had a call from a friend telling me my passport was not valid to enter the US. I am due to travel to the US in december for a 2 week holiday. My whole family had they passport renewed due to expiry and have now got the new chip or biometric passport, but mine which is not due to be renewed until 2012 but has no biometric, I've been told will be unacceptable, is that correct.
No thst is wrong. If it expires in 2012 then must have been issued prior to Oct 26th 2007 before which date it was not required to have the biometric chip. It's fine till it espires as things stand at present.

Sorry should have said as long as it has the machine readable strip on the info page which by 2002 I'm pretty sure they all did have.
When you enter immigration as well even though you dont have the bio chip you should still go to the counters with the rest of your family that are designated for those with bio passports as theirs will need to be read byt he readers and you all enter as a family group.
