That may be true but we have certain responsibilities when running and hosting a forum such as this and hosting posts that encourage people to potentially break the law is not something that sits well with this.

Of course. It was meant as a general comment on the thread relating to to US shopping trip habits. But I obviously understand your position as the hosts. [msnembarrased]

Well speaking from personal experience when we have bought more than that, we have declared it in the past. To be fair since we've had the villa we dont have enough spare moeny to be bringing too much stuff back and as we travel fairly frequently we dont want to risk getting caught out by it and jeopardising future trips.

Lets also have a reality check. Whilst not condoning breaking the law, I've yet to ever see a queue of UK tourists standing in the "Items to Declare" aisle on their return from the states because they've spent over their £145 allowance. UK customs have much better things to do than worry about someone buying an ipod or not.

Dynomike - if you're will to wait until November, Apple will no doubt have released an updated model again by then. Remember to add on local sales tax (6 or 7%) when comparing the US price to UK prices.

If it is the same price everywhere, check out side deals. When I bought an IPOD in Nov at Best Buy, they were giving out $15 gift certs free with purchase. I used mone for accessoires.

Thanks for all your advice. I have just bought a refurb from the apple store £99 8gb received it last friday. I dont know how I lasted without this in my life for so long [clap]. They are so totally awesome(as my daughter now says after almost everything) Looking forward to using it in wifi spots when we go out in April. This now means that my wife can spend more and not get in to trouble with the customs[msnwink]
