    Pay Pal

    Hi all,
I have recently added pay pal to my website, as anyone had dealings with pay pal, and what are they like? Is it worth having it on.
    Thanks

    Oscar

I've used it to make payments and have had no problems - fast and efficient. I haven't received any payments yet so cannot comment there, however, believe that its a very good way to get payments through quickly. I understand there could be charges incurred, so read the small print.

read very carefully into their policy and make sure that you come under their conditions that are protected from fruad until recently the UK we totally excluded now I beleive that sellers have some sort of protection BUT you really need a service where you can prove delivery of an item! we have used paypal for customers to pay for our website and graphic design service for a couple of years now, If you can not prove delivery of something then you have no cover whatsoever in fruad use of credit cards, we were unfourtunate enough to have this happen twice last year in both instances proof that cgi scripts had been sold were supplied to paypal and that websites had been personalised and running on the customers behalf, all the e mail correspondence was supplied and in both instances we lost the case..... that could prove to be very costly to you, as the rental price will way exceed the charges I lost in my case! also this can happen up to six months after you have received the money and on top of the money being taken back just to rub salt right into the wound you will also be charged a fee for it...
just be careful and read ALL the small print on the site!

We have used PayPal for sometime now and have had no problems. We sell software over the internet in which the customer completes a download and no cd is sent out. Therefor there was nothing to ship. I do suggest that when money goes into your paypal account that you withdraw the funds and have it go direclty to your bank acount as soon as possible incase any problems do arise.

The main problem with Paypal (apart from the charges for selling and withdrawing money) is the ability of US customers to be able to do a charge back for any reason, legitimate or not, Paypal will take the money from your account or credit card without first asking your side of things and it's then up to you to persuade Paypal there has been a mistake and get your money back, this can be an extremely lengthy process and is not always possible.

Paypal charges 4 percent but well worth having as many people charge their vacations on the credit card.

Can your management company not take credit cards on your behalf?
We use this facility and it works out really well.
