    Car seat help - Roger?

Roger - last time we booked a 7 seater with Dollar they had integral car seats in them. My Mum picked up her car today and they told her they don't have anything like that. Have they stopped doing these or was she being fed a line? Thanks for your help. I hate using the ones provided as I don't feel they are as safe seeing as you don't get decent instructions and they won't help you fit it properly.

    Thanks

Only certain models of the 7 seater had these, so if those models are no longer available (or temporarily unavailable) then Dollar are correct.

Note, that even if Dollar do have one available, and you specifically ask for such a car on collection - Dollar then have a right to charge you for 2 child seats as usual rates. See http://www.uscarhire.co.uk/faq-child-seats.aspx#132

I'd always recommend taking your own anyhow not only to save you money, but then you know exactly how to fit then, and you know the quality / safety of your own child seat.

We have always taken our own car seats and as far as I am aware, like pushchairs, they are extra to your baggage allowance. They are usually labeled when you check in your baggage and then you take the car seat to the over sized baggage belt and that is it. It is usually a good idea to cover them with plastic to stop them getting wet or soiled. Hope that helps[msnsmile]

If your mother's already in Florida, then she could buy a car seat in somewhere like Wal-Mart of course as they're not nearly as expensive as they are in the UK.

We will see what it looks like when we get there. Very disappointed as we have had these the last twice we have gone with Dollar and they are excellent. We previously booked through Virgin and with the package we got were not charged for the car seats. Wouldn't mind the cost though for the peace of mind.
    Thanks

I know Vigin don't charge for taking car seats, but not sure about other airlines.
