We have a car from Dollar on the silver option and are wondering how much extra it would be to add a driver on please? Or even if it is possible. We have some friends arriving tomorrow and I think one of them would like to be able to drive.

If you only have 1 driver at present then there is no cost to add 1 extra driver. If you already have 2 drivers then you will need to pay for each additional driver. This is typically between $5.99 and $9.99 per day per extra driver.
You will need to go to any local Dollar depot with all your paperwork and the additional driver(s) so they will be insured to drive.
Thanks for the information Roger. I will let him know when he arrives and then it will be up to him.
When you go to the depot to get someone 'added on' what exactly are the hire company supposed to do, as on our last trip we went along with the additional driver, paperwork, licence ... and they just said "oh that's ok". They didn't ask the driver to sign anything. Just wondering if this is normal practice?

They really should take the additional drivers' license details, but I know this often does not happen.

I arrived on my own and then added 3 drivers a few days later when they arrived.
They had some problems finding the code reqired to add extra drivers, but took all their details and were very apologetic about not knowing exactly what to do at the time. I used the Dollar Express queue at the airport.
