Hi
My home isn't on Lakeside, but it does back on to a huge, deep, natural lake with plenty of wildlife.
The wildlife will not cause you any problems whatsoever. It will stay in it's own habit and whenever you are outside at the back of the house, you will be on the decking area or in the pool, which will have screens all around, and above, them. The wildlife can't get in.
What you will find, when you are relaxing on the deck, or swimming, is that you will see some amazing sites completely free of charge!!
If you are really lucky you will get to see a 'gator swim by (they are pretty shy), or turtles (you might glimpse their heads bobbing above the water), or all sorts of beautiful birds including herons, egrets, buzzards, wild turkeys etc. The lake will probably be teeming with fish and sometimes you'll see them leap out of the water. Raccoons and armadillos might also wander by on their way for a drink.
Please don't worry about these creatures. If you are lucky, you will experience the natural side of Florida, whilst being safely ensconced on the deck or in the pool.
I advise guests to remember that these are wild creatures and that under no circumstances should they approach them or attempt to feed any of them, including the birds. It is illegal to feed wild creatures in Florida.
Many of my guests return home and send me pictures of the wildlife that they have been lucky enough to watch in it's natural habitat.
Mossies, and other flying bugs, are no more a problem with lake homes than with any other type of home, because the screening keeps them out and away from you.
Enjoy your holiday - you'll see some great sites.
It is truly a magical experience, watching the wildlife.![]()
