When we gave our cases in at Down Town Disney they looked at all passports so in one word yes all pasengers have to go with there passports .
Also they weight each bag so that is was the right weight .

It s essentially the same as airport check-in so as Maureen says you all have to be there.

One tip we found useful is to get there about 08:15, 15 minutes before they open, and you'll be free from about 08:45 tops as the queue is (or it was in our case) pretty small.
It is can be a pain to get up so early but it leaves you pretty much a full last day to enjoy the final day.

We're the opposite - tend to roll up around 11-ish (when we have finally managed to stuff the suitcases. Usually no queue.

The only pain is that you have to park and then lug the suitcases around some scenery. So on the last couple of trips we have unloaded the car and family at the entrance to the check in area and then I'll nip and park the car and then join them. This may not work, obviously, if there was a queue.
