    Flights in October, big increase??

    Hi all

We are trying to plan our next visit to Florida, last there Nov 2006 and Nov 2004.
We are trying to plan for October 2008 but looking at flights they are 200.00 more than what we paid in Nov 2006...is this correct and to be expected. We are flying from Glasgow/Edinburgh and either into Orlando or Tampa (parents are going to take a villa on Gulf Coaast for three weeks we are having two weeks in Orlando and then going to have one week with them hopefully).
Have flights really increased as much in this short time. Are we best to wait a while to see if they come down any?

    Thanks all

October flight prices have really taken a hike over the past couple of years - we always go in October and I would suggest they are more likely to go up than come down so I would suggest getting them booked asap

my parents went to the Gulf Coast in Oct last year (2007) and they paid 440.00 each. Why the 100.00 increase?
Is there actually a reason for it?

Prices will continue to go up the longer they are on sale.

I booked our Christmas/New Year flights in February for £1882 for 4 people, I have just checked again now on the same flights and they are £2453 and whopping £631 more than when I booked them. I have found over the years, that it is best to book them as soon as they come out, or sometimes I have booked a very last minute deal, one year I booked 24hours before going, but I didn't mind if I went or not that time.

October is also a school holiday time so the airlines increase their prices because they know it will be popular[msnwink]

typical. We would go in November if we could but we have an 80th brithday and 70th birthday coming up in the family in that month so really feel we can't go away at that time.

Remember that the price of fuel has jumped a lot in 1.5 years.

It really isn't possible to generalise on whether prices will go up or down as October gets closer.

If you want exact dates and direct flights with a family group I'd book as soon as possible. If you have some flexibility on route and date and there are just 2 or 3 of you I'd hang on until nearer the time. I reckon that the current economic climate will mean plenty of available seats on flights later this year.

I have always found October to be expensive for flights. We get 2 weeks holiday in Scotland and it is a very popular time for people to go to Florida during those weeks. My flights for October this year were approx £580 flying from Aberdeen via Manchester and Atlanta with Delta.

    Pamela,
we travel from Edinburgh and I would suspect Flyglobespan flights from Glasgow are quite expensive as their prices go up with demand and with mid term breaks etc they could be quite busy in October.
We are travelling in june/july and got good prices flying from Edinburgh via Newark with Continental. Try a quote from them if you don't mind changing flights.
