    KLM/Martinair

    HI,
Has anybody used this route from London via Amsterdam?
As we have left it late to book for next Easter this is one of the cheapest options from Airline-Network.
The price for 4 adults is £1900 which is by far our cheapest quote so far but we are a bit concerned as we have never heard of this route.
our only other choice seems to be using American airlines and changing at various American cities.
we are looking to travel the weekend of the 3rd April 2004 and cannot find any economy direct flights.

    Thanks Yvonne.

    Hi Yvonne

I just had the same problems trying to get best flight times/seat pitch etc. so I know what you've been through!.

As to Martinair, we flew with them last December Newcastle/Amsterdam/Orlando and they were very friendly, decent meals, no seat back tv's just the usual bulkhead screens but no real problems.

Free drinks came round several times during the flight and the staff were extremely professional (& nice), kids got goodie bags with quite a bit in and if you email them you can pre-book kiddie type meals (burger & chips or macaroni & cheese) in advance at no charge. you can email them via the website

    http://www.martinair.com

    Or directly at spl.paxsales.reservations@nl.martinair.com

On the down side the plane we flew on was an older type with fixed arm rests which were quite wide so if you've got a "bit to spare in the botty department" (like me!) you may find them a bit narrow. Seat pitch was 31" or 32" which for most people should be OK, I managed and I'm 6'6" but they did give me bulkhead seats

    Hi
we have now found direct flights to Tampa with BA and are wondering about driving from there to Orlando.
Has anybody done this and how was it driving a longer distance after a long flight.
Which of the villa areas would be easiest to reach using this route?
my guess would be the ones on us27 but I could be completely wrong!

    Hi Yvonne
Driving from Tampa to Orlando is very easy and straight forward. It takes about an hour for me to reach Thousand Oaks (off junction 58 of I4 which runs to Tampa) as opposed to 25 minutes from Orlando MCO so there really isnt that much in it.Also the immigration can be a little quicker in Tampa so overall it is much the same.Well worth doing for the savings that can be made at times.

Tampa Airport is just over an hour's drive from most of the villa communities - about the same time as it would take from Sanford to the villas. It's a very easy drive up the Interstate 4 and very do-able after your flight.

Yvonne, have you looked at flights with US Airways?, we're going from Gatwick with them instead of BA, 34" seat pitch as opposed to 31", excellent in-flight entertainment system with individual video on demand (so you can pause a movie while you nip to the loo!) and our flights for 4 adults and 1 child to MCO worked out at £1332 nearly £200 cheaper!.

The US Airways entertainment system is the best by a long way compared to the other airlines we have travelled on. It's like having a personal DVD player and film library in your seat .

Depends on what plane your on with USAirways, they only have that entertainment system on the airbus. We flew with USAirways this week to Orlando on an older plane and it had the bulkhead screens.

It's always the A330 on the MAN-PHL route which we use - not sure about Gatwick.
