They can not charge your card if you haven't signed a rental agreement with the charges clearly marked on.

We always stress to carefully look at any charges that appear on your rental agreement. If charges were not marked on the agreement and they charged you then you should be able to claim this back.

If you signed for charges then there is nothing you can do.

[/quote]I know, but after a long flight, 1 car clearly not what was booked, the 2nd car having a boot no bigger than a mini's and then a long wait before another car was valeted for us i didn't really question whether i'd be paying an upgrade charge, we'd been in the Dollar offices for nearly 2 hours and just wanted to hit the road. The clerk had said she was only taking an imprint and i wouldn't be charged earlier on, probably prior to us getting the final car though. I checked the agreement i signed when i got my credit card bill and i was unfortunately bang to rights as it were.

I can't make any promises, but if you booked through us, please drop me an emil to info@uscarhire.co.uk with your order number and rental agreement number, and a summary of the issue, and I'll pass to Dollar to see what we can do.

Cheers Roger, but i didn't book through you and this was actually the first time in ages where i'd actually taken the car hire that came with the fly drive and pre paid to Airtours. Normally do it seperate as well without hassle!

I'm a bit confused now!! we booked our holiday through airtours and we have car hire included through Dollar Car Hire. We have upgraded the car and the insurance. But here's the confsion bit.... we have upgraded to Platinum insurance, but everyone else is talking about silver or gold!!!!

Is this just the travel company trying to make it sound a bit posher by calling them gold & platinum or have I missed something and paid more than I should have?

And am I right in thinking that I dont now have to pay anything extra to dollar when I get there (local taxes etc) and would they still need to swipe my cerdit card?

    thanks

I would guess Platinum is the same as what we call Gold.

In the past this was called Silver and Gold by most car rental companies, but in order for some agents to make their products sound better, they started calling them Gold and Platinum.

Their Platinum certainly wont be any better that our Gold, but I can't guarantee that it's as good as our Gold. Many agents don't include cancelation and amendment protection or insurance excess waiver as standard for example.
