I am getting a bit behind with my reports as we are running out of time and trying to cram as much action into our last couple of days. Here is Monday's report.
Day 9
We had planned to go to a beach this morning but nobody was feeling like going. The girls wanted to try out the new pool and mother in law really only comes for the retail therapy. So I set up camp under a parasol and Neil dropped his mum at Premium Outlets for 3 hours. They were surprised to find a multi story car park has gone up since our last trip and also construction has started on another 110 shops that are due to be completed by Fall this year – yeah we are back in December! The Dixie Stampede building has not changed but the sign has been taken down and it looks a little bit sad ;-(
Neil returned to join us at the pool and we got Oren togged up for a family swim, the pool was bath temperature and he is loving the waterthe girls are like fish but the UV is strong and we are struggling to stop Libby burning despite all the usual precautions. After the swim Neil takes the girls to meet his mum at premium as she has promised to buy them new Sketchers. I went back and fed Oren and put him down for a nap, plus I got to read a magazine! The others returned but the girls were without trainers as Sydney couldn't decide! As they are buy one get one half price this means Libby also has none – ah well I will have to go next time!
We relaxed for a couple of hours and then headed out for an early dinner as we needed to feed everyone before myself and Neil went for an adults only evening at Pleasure Island. It was St Patrick's day and there were celebration's at Downtown Disney. Being Premium Annual Pass holders means we get free entrance and we wanted to take advantage of having a babysitter as we wont have anyone in December.
We chose Perkins for Dinner as we wanted a quick meal and somewhere not too far. Neil was pleasantly surprised to find they now serve beer as they hadn't last time we visited. I opted for a Chicken and Bacon sandwich with honey mustard dressing and fries, Neil went for an Omelette with hash browns and a muffin, mother in law had Butterball Turkey with dressing and the kids went for their usual pizza and macaroni cheese, Sydney chose a fruit burst drink – god knows what colorings were in this as it turned her whole mouth blue!
Food done and dusted we dropped the others home and drove to Downtown Disney, we parked at the Cirque de Solei end and walked through to Pleasure Island. It was a fun atmosphere with lots of people dressed up in St Patrick's gear, there were also 'characters' roaming around dressed in green costumes – there were Leprechauns and a Punk with 'Sham Rocker' on the back of his leather jacket with a massive green mohican and fake guitar. There were many other photo opportunities and guess what – I forgot the camera arrghhhh!
We had an outside drink and a wander and then got our wristbands for the clubs at 8 Trax and went in there for a bit, it was still quite empty so we moved on to the Adventurers Club. This is a very surreal experience! It is like the impromptu street entertainment at MGM but in a house environment. The actors wander around in character and there was a butler and a maid who were very amusing and a guy in a flying jacket with a huge martini lol! It's hard to explain but there are things on the walls that move and songs to sing and pledges to take and you move from room to room with the characters. We stayed while but Neils beer was truly awful for some reason and tasted like water so we left. We poked our heads into Sound Stage but it was empty so we went back to 8 Trax for a bit, the night was still young and the spring breakers were just getting started for for us old fogeys it was bed time so we headed home.
