Day 7
We decided to re-visit Epcot this morning as we still had the front of the park to do especially our family's favourite ride – Soarin'. We parked up about 9.30am and the crowds were not too busy on entering. The kids love Spaceship Earth and it has been refurbed so we were keen to see the new additions. We jumped straight on with no line and Oren got to go too. The first new thing you see is screen in front of you asking you where you are from. The commentary has also changed and is now done by Dame Judy Dench. There are lots of new animatronics and some completely new scenes but in essence the ride is the same. We had a few laughs on the way back down as they ask questions and then create your vision of the future inserting your face on the characters on the screen in front of you. You get your picture taken on entry and this is also flashed up on a big world screen at the end as you exit along with where you are from. The only negative point about the ride is the dazzling lights on the way back down, they are like thousands of tiny stars reflected in mirrors and I have previously read that they can cause motion sickness, however I can see them being a problem for people that suffer from epilepsy and similar things (sorry mizzy!)
This ride done we stopped at the restrooms (i seem to visit these often not sure who is worse mother in law or the kids!) and then we split up. Neil and Sydney went on Mission Space and the rest of us headed to Soarin' to get fastpasses, We had an hours wait so we stopped for coffee and snacks at Seasons while we waited for Neil and Sydney. I can recommend the bakery as they have a delicious counter with all manner of tasty treats yumm! I chose a strawberry shortcake and I took a photo as it was so beautifulLibby chose a chocolate brownie and chocolate milk and mother in law had a chocolate croissant.
Fed and watered the others found us and we headed for Living with the land to kill the last bit of time. The girls always enjoy this ride and mother in law had not done it before – they enjoyed looking for the Mickey shaped pumpkins. Next it was time for Soarin', I didn't get very far though as the baby swap person has to stay outside and not even enter the line. I got a ticket which enabled me to ride with up to two others but the others were quite a while even with fastpasses by which time Oren had gone to sleep (we had left the stroller outside the land) so rather than wait around more we decided to move on.
We wandered round to The Living Seas stopping for a photo pass opportunity with Nemo. We all went on the Nemo ride and Oren's eyes were nearly out on stalks. We then did Turtle talk with Crush which is always good fun and then headed to Character spot to get some photos with Mickey and crew with Oren.
The sun was now high in the sky so we decided to head for home via MacDonalds as we were planning a night out tonight so wouldn't be eating at a restaurant. Food eaten Neil and the girls jumped in the hot tub back at the house for some relaxation time.
This evening we left Oren with nanny and took the girls to Celebration for the St Patrick's day street concert. We parked fairly easily on a side street and wandered down to the main town square area. The weather was lovely and we wandered amongst the people all dressed up in green t-shirts and shamrock bead necklaces and beely boppers . It was a great atmosphere and all the restaurants had stalls selling food and drinks.
It was Neil's turn to drink so he was able to enjoy a few beers from the various vendors. After a while we bagged ourselves a bench overlooking the lake and settled down to enjoy the music from the massive sound stage in the center. We listened awhile and then got peckish so Neil and the girls grabbed a chicken sandwich and some nuggets from the Chick-Fil-A stall and I sampled a lovely steak kebab from the Columbus Spanish restaurant stall. We didn't know a lot of the musicians playing but recognized the man from Survivor singing Eye of the Tiger which was really goo
