    United Airlines

We have found some good prices for indirect flights to MCO via Washigton DC
The problem is that the time between flights is only 1hr. 22m. This doesn't seem very long to me, but I just wondered if anybody has any managed to connect between flights in such a short time.
Do you have to collect your luggage at Washington Dc and then re-check it on to the next flight? I don't know if it makes any difference but we will be flying on Boxing Day.

We did this route last Christmas and I am not sure if you have quite enough time or not. We spent quite a while in the immigration hall and about 15 minutes in the queue to go back through security. We had to collect our bags at Washington and hand them back in which did not take long as most of the people on our flight were not transfers.

We did this route a couple of years ago. We were delayed at Manchester which meant missing the connecting flight. We were put on the next available flight to MCO.

I really don't think 1 hour 22 minutes is quite enough.

If they sell the ticket they must think it's possible to make the connection. The number of people who are travelling and how many checked bags you have will have some impact upon it.

It's a bit tight but you should make it. If you don't, United will get you there as quickly as they can on the day.

I think we will think about this for a while. It was getting through security I was worried about Hopefully the price won't go up in the meantime.

As Katys Grandad says, if they sell it as a through flight then the airline is responsible for getting you to your final destination. It does sound tight, so check that this connection is within the minimum connection time for Washington DC international to Domestic flights

You could always check the flight depart page for Wahsington airport to find the times of United's departures to Orlando on any given day so you will be able to work out if you do miss a flight when the next one goes.

I find the prices on scheduled flights do increase as time goes on so I wouldn't leave it too long.

We flew from london - Miami then onto Cancun for a week. We had 1 hour 30 to catch the AA flight. We had no chance at all. This was with our bags being checked through for us. By the time we managed to get through customs and out the other side the flight had left.

I am not saying it can't be done, but you need to allow yourself enough of a fighting chance. Like Katys Grandad says, Why would they sell you the ticket if it was not possible.

Miami is a Zoo - particularly immigration being the gateway to Latin America - and that doesn't surprise me.

However all the airlines have a minimum time for transfer at their hubs and it seems to me the best recommendation is to use those guidelines.

There is nothing worse than sitting in an airport lounge watching people board a flight that you could have taken, but had decided to book a later flight because you thought you might not make it.

The majority of people on this Forum, who are flying indirect, are going to Orlando(MCO) and there are often several passengers on the Transatlantic flight with the same connection to MCO. They will often hold the MCO flight until they have boarded if there has been a delay.
