New Premier Inn Hotel at Manchester Airport

For all those flying from Manchester a brand new Premier Inn Hotel has just opened at Manchester Airport - Junction 6 M56 right next door to the Travel Lodge.................... http://www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelI...26815&iscsell= just a shame it was built in a nice field that used to have cows in it[msnsad]

Thanks for the update Julie. I normally use Bewleys these days as it's normally just me using this route. Re the Travel Lodge, I think I would rather sleep in a field of cows than stay there[laugh][laugh]

I didn't see any information on the link about shuttle services to the terminal so it looks like you would have to add the cost of a cab (which probably wouldn't be very much given the short distance). I might give it a try.

I stay in airport hotels quite a bit both in the UK & US and usually find the US versions to be good quality and much better value than their UK equivalent. Unlike UK properties, most offer a decent breakfast and free shuttles in the price.

We normally stay at Bewleys too. Although I have never worked out how to get to it without having to dodge the trafic on the road outside it....[:O]

I would think they must have a transfer bus if they are an airport hotel. They would lose so much business if they didn't.

I rang them earlier today - no shuttle service but they will order a taxi for you.

I think I'm right in saying that hotels near Heathrow aren't even permitted to have free shuttles in order to protect the local taxi trade.

That is because there is a Hoppa service which provides transfers to and from Terminals 1, 2 and 3, every 15 to 20 minutes. This takes approximately 15 minutes. The tickets for this service cost £4 per person one way and £8 per person return, with children under 5 free, and one child aged 5-15 free with each adult.

Yes, I remember that now Ellie. Usually if there's more than 1 of you a taxi will be cheaper particularly if your hotel isn't that far away. (Assuming of course that the cab driver doesn't take you by the 'scenic route').

I've found that many UK airport hotels have no free shuttle service. Travelodges usually don't and a lot of others charge for the service. In the US it's more or less standard even for fairly long distances although I've found that it often isn't provided from JFK and I've never come across a free shuttle in Las Vegas.

Just checked and prices at the Bewleys hotel go up from £79 to £89 per night as from 1 April 08. I remember not so long ago it was £59 per room per night.
We tend to use Bewleys as its cheaper than most onsite hotels and as we normally fly from terminal 3, you can walk to the terminal in about 5 mins.
