    Car hire advice

Hi all, First let me say this seems like a really helpful and friendly forum and thanks in advance for any help/advice given.
I am going to Florida in September with my GF and her family, there will be 11 of us and a baby, they are getting a 15 seater van but i was wondering whether it would be worth getting a second car so if we want to do different things or some of us want to go out in the eve and others don't etc. If i did get a car i was wondering what people think i should get was looking initially at a economy/compact but then started thinking if it would be worth going for an intermediate? don't really want to pay too much though as not going to be using it all the time

    Hi Steve,
I would definately recommend getting a second car, there will be times when one or two of you want to go out seperately. Have a look at the link at the top of the page for Florida car hire, and there are descriptions of all the different cars, and prices

I agree with Dawn, I would also get a second car...You may have to hide the key's as the others may want the car just to nip here and there in

Thanks for the advice Lynne and Dawn. I was wondering if people think a compact would be big enough as a 2nd car? I'm guessing there should be plenty of room for all the luggage if there is only going to be 9 people in a 15 seater van?

    Steve welcome to the forum
we always advice Large Family Groups
to think about having two Vehicles for there Trip ,

my brother came with us last October and we hired a car and a 12 seater Van ,
we did use the van most of the time ,
which was great fun , we where like the A team [msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

but the car came in very Handy
if there was only 4 of us going to the parks or out for a meal

    Hi Steve,

It is a great idea to go for a second car, even if it is only used occasionally and maybe for some of you to do a shop at Wal-Mart for nights when you may want to eat in and have a few beers[msnwink]

For the difference in price between the compact and the intermediate I would go for the intermediate and a little more comfort.

i would definitely get a second car-we ended up with one of those odd shaped chrysler jobbies it was great.
watch your luggage space even in a 15 seater-it's not great.

Yeah that's what i was thinking Kazzie and MarkJan, was just looking at prices and just wondered if there was anything different you get with the gold package through uscarhire than with alamo direct? Reason i ask is it seems to be slightly cheaper to book direct than through uscarhire?

The thing to remember is booking through uscarhire you get a service which is second to none, you also get to have four drivers so should you wish to go out in the evenings you can have turns to drive home, also you get a full tank of fuel included in the cost and return the car empty.
You get lots of car hire sites which charge extra for the fuel or you have to return the car full of fuel, hidden insurances can also be extra.

In my view and probably everyone will agree with me there is no comparison.
