Hi Caitlin, yeah i've read about the service and agree it's woth paying the extra for, i just wondered if there was anything in particular that was different because as far as i can see the gold packages are the same, get the extra drivers, fuel, insurance etc. Also i thought it was supposed to be cheaper booking through an agent than direct with the car hire company themselves?

It is slightly cheaper booking direct with all the car hire companies such as Dollar, Alamo etc. Until you get to the desk at the airport. It's the same with "free" cars included on package holidays, just the insurance to pay for which can be much more than renting seperately. A colleague booked through TCD and paid £800 for a 7-seater for two weeks, next time she went I organised one through Roger & John for £360.
    Regards, Mark

Thanks Mark, if i do book a car i'll definately book it through uscarhire if not for the service alone from which i've read many good things. Didn't realise there was any extra insurance to pay for as i thought the gold package on the alamo site was the same as the gold package on here?
