    Dollar Free Pick Up???

Just wondering if anyone has availed of the free pick up service from Dollar and if so were there any problems. According to the FAQ section of this site Dollar will collect you free of charge and take you to their depot to collect car provided you are within 5 miles of the depot. Sounds great to me as after a long flight from Ireland the last thing we want to do is drive from the airport. We intend renting car the day after we arrive and this option would be perfect.
Also wondering if there is any advantage in signing up for Dollar Express if we were going to rent car from Dollar's office in Kissimmee instead of Orlando Airport. Any advice much appreciated.

Don't forget that you'll have to pay for some transportation from the airport to your accommodation and that this is likely to be more expensive than collecting the car from the airport.

You wouldn't need Dollar Express for the Kissimmee Office as, whenever I've been in there, there's been no-one else there. DE only really comes into its own when there's a long queue except the fact that it has some of your information already built in, like your driving licence number, name and address, etc so it might be a tad quicker to process your rental.

Thanks for your reply Blott. I am presently looking into getting an airport shuffle to our villa provided by Terra Verde Resort for a fee of course. No doubt you are probably correct about the cost involved but I I might as well investigate all our options.

Hi Mary,Welcome to the forum. I would forget about the airport shuttle and rent your car from the airport.Terre Verde is very straight forward to get to from the airport. Perhaps you might consider hiring or purchasing a Sat Nav for the holiday ,it really makes travelling so much easier. Because its now a direct flight from Dublin its not half as tedious as travelling through Gatwick or New York. Do sign up for Dollar Express its great . By the way when are you travelling ?[lucky][lucky][lucky]

Hi Mary , welcome aboard, Blott and Killian are both right. The Kissimmee Dollar office is very quiet but you still have to make your way from Terre Verde to it . Do seriously consider renting from Orlando Airport. As Killian said the journey is so easy with a Sat Nav . It beats the quiet time on the M 50 anyday , come to think of that has to be the worst part of the journey both coming and going the MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM50 . ugh. I do hope you have a great holiday .[msnsmile]

Thanks for the advice Killian and Olive. At the end of the day I know we would be better renting direct at the Airport so yes, I will book with Dollar and go for the Expresso!!! We are travelling out July 20th for 3 weeks. Flying with Continental via Newark with a 3 hr layover out and back. Could'nt justify paying a thousand euro extra with Aer Lingus for a direct flight.

Sorry Mary I shouldnt have assumed that you were going direct with A.L.We generally go with the cheapest option ,just that this year we are going to Florida in March so we are going direct with Aer Lingus . Not really looking to the long flight but the end result is worth it . [msneek]
