We have arranged to go to the Spectromagic Parade from our Contemporary Resort. I have heard of the humongous returning crowd after the show; but as guests of the Contemporary Resort, can we take the 'resort only' monorail with its (hopefully) lower rush situation? Any other ideas on returning to the CR after the parade?

You won't have any trouble getting on the resort monorail after the parade - it is usually much much quieter than the express monorail. Alternatively you are only 5 minutes walk from the CR anyway so if you just walk to the left side as you exit MK you can walk back.
The crowds are huge but since they are all moving in the same direction it is not too bad getting out of MK although its not the most pleasant experience.

Yes you should be ok, i hate the crowds at spectromagic because after we have to get on the monorail out of the resort and the crowds are really bad, but as your on site there should be no problems.
The resort monorail is much quieter than the regular one and you will have no problems using it
