The wii games from USA do not play on the British console.
Our wii is region free so I presumed they were all the same as we have not had it chipped. I have not tried games yet but it plays region 1 and 2 dvds.

Are you sure ? I don't think Wii's play dvd's yet
Yep it definately does, Alex is currently watching Fantastic 4 through it. I have just googled about the subject and it appears that the only ones that can do this are available in Japan. Looks like we have some kind of import. Although this was not mentioned when I bought it, I did have to change the plug to a uk one...

I was not aware of the new dvd playing capabillities. Anyway I want to caution you. I know that when you have a PAL (UK) Wii chipped you can play games from the US. However more and more games have a feature that 'updates' your Wii console automatically. Now if you try to play a US (NTSC) game on a chipped Pal Wii and the auto update feature starts, it will leave your Wii useless and beyond repair. Try to google for 'bricked wii' for more info. good luck
We bought the unit fro Gamestation and it was sealed. So I dont think it has been chipped, there are genuine multiregion units out there (apparently) . Makes no odds to me as we will only have uk games anyway and to be honest if it gets bricked I simply take it back or at worst buy and new one.

Are you sure it is not PS3? i Thought you cannot play DVD's on Wii. I was also told in the US that Wii are region coded. Just done some research and it states The new model will only be available in Japan. Nintendo has confirmed in an interview with the UK gaming magazine Edge that they are planning to launch the DVD-playing Wii some time in early 2007, but that the company has no plans to make it available in the North American or European markets.

Now this is getting mighty confusing! You say that <span style="color:red">"Nintendo has confirmed in an interview with the UK gaming magazine Edge that they are planning to launch the DVD-playing Wii some time in early 2007"</span id="red"> , do you now realise that it is now early 2008?[msnwink]
